Climate

What is Climate?
"Climate is a measure of the average pattern of variation in temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind, precipitation, atmospheric particle count and other meteorological variables in a given region over long periods of time. Climate is different from weather, in that weather only describes the short-term conditions of these variables in a given region." Wikipedia
Climate scientists
are usually the experts consulted by the media in the publicity surrounding global warming. Rarely have been heard from geologists, who for almost  two hundred years have been studying the history of Earth's dramatic and repeated climate revolutions, as revealed in the evidence of rocks and landscapes.

In the book written by a geologist, E. Kirsten Peters, The Whole Story of Climate: What Science Reveals About the Nature of Endless Change, she describes the important contributions that geology has made to our understanding of climate change. What emerges is a much more complex and nuanced picture than is usually presented. From the excerpt of her book:
"As it happens many geologic principles can be quickly learned by amateurs. In just a few  pages, this book will show you how geologists can literally see Earth's recent climate when we look out the window. You, too, can master the skill set, and you'll be able to understand the basic outline of climate, as Nature herself can show it to you around your house or during your summer vacation in the Rockies, New England, or around the Great Lakes. And I'll teach you what you need to know not through a list of facts, but by explaining the story of how geologists learned the basic principles that guide our science. In other words, this isn't a textbook, but a narrative, the story of what real-life geologists--complete with human limitations and foibles--learned as they examined the parts .of the natural world influenced by climate change. It's an interesting detective story in its own right, but it will also give you the basic tools to see the climate evidence that, indeed, lies all around you."
Just one of the reviews of E. Kirsten Peter's Book:
"Modern geology has shown that the only constant is change. Professor Peter's book - indispensable to those interested in climate change - takes the general reader on an elegantly written and engaging intellectual adventure into the history of curious and clever ways that modern scientists have been able to construct a precise and richly detailed picture of the often-rapid." by Gerry B. Gough
As I patiently typed the excerpts of the book and as I read some of the information, I am enjoying because I am learning. The more I am interested in the study of the Universe. Thanks to all those who have God given talents to study the Universe. However, we should not forget that GOD is THE CREATOR of the Universe.
