Tips to Protect our Brain

The brain is the center of the nervous system, and being the master organ of our bodies, it should be well protected. The scalp is a tough wrapping outside the skull that can absorb blows, and inside the skull is a tough membrane called the dura mater that protects the brain. The brain, encased in fluid and floats in liquid that helps absorb traumatic shocks, gives additional protective device against blows and flows. However, this "built-in" defense provided to us by "Nature" should be taken cared of. Regardless of age, we cannot anticipate the possibility of accidents, but by knowing the hazards, this can minimize mistakes that cause accidents which can possibly lead to brain injury.

Social Media and Your Teens

How does social media affect the lives of teenagers?

I have my own experience as a mother to a teenage daughter and my opinion now is just based on my observation and how I deal with her regarding this matter. Through the Internet, all communications have been made possible. Everything that can be talked about under the sun is found in the Internet. The social media has its advantage and disadvantage. It is similar to the saying "nobody's perfect".

Knowledge and Information

When I was still in my younger years and my father tried to teach me with the "do's" and "dont's" in life, he used to say the words "education starts at home". Even my Aunts' and Uncles because they themselves are educators being teachers by profession. As a child of course, I didn't pay much attention to those words and did not even try to analyze what they really mean. What I know at that time was that every time I hear those words, I get bored and upset but my father was so strict that for him not to get angry I just keep quiet but deep inside I was really bored.

Climate

What is Climate?
"Climate is a measure of the average pattern of variation in temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind, precipitation, atmospheric particle count and other meteorological variables in a given region over long periods of time. Climate is different from weather, in that weather only describes the short-term conditions of these variables in a given region." Wikipedia

What is Science?

What is Science?
"Science is a systematic enterprise that builds and organize knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the Universe. In an older and closely related meaning, "science" also refers to a body of knowledge itself, of the type that can be rationally explained and reliably applied. A practitioner of science is known as a Scientist." Wikipedia
There are still a lot of sources where we can find broader meaning of science. The study of science is really very broad because it covers almost 60 or 70% of what is in the Universe...living and non-living things. Science and Maths always go together because of the solutions for scientific laboratory research where maths is to be used for the formula.

Do You Have a Special Child?

Do you have a special child with special needs? "Down syndrome" is the medical term for what I'm referring to in this post but I want to avoid the word. This is because inspite of having differences physically and mentally from other normal kids, in my heart I still see these kids as normal. If I see special kids, as a mother, I can feel how difficult it is to have a child that cannot do what normal kids do. I just wish all kids are normal but there are factors that cause the physical and mental disabilities of these kids. On certain cases, the cause of such disabilities can't be explained.

To be a mother is a great fulfillment of my life...

More than two years since my last post is quite a long time for me. Before I proceed let me just rewind my thoughts 13 years ago. Years that I watch my daughter grow up to her age now. This just goes to show that I can't deny I'm getting older :)  Here my daughter was 5 months
