The Importance of Vitamins

Vitamins are food substances that are essential for growth, health and life itself. You only need them in tiny quantities but it is essential to have in your daily foods. However, excess of intake of vitamins which more than the body needs is not good. but rather it may actually produce illness. A poor diet is not a solution by
simply taking vitamin concentrates. Each group of vitamin has its on benefit in the body system.

Vitamin A is essential to vision. An indirect source of Vitamin A is a substance called carotene which the body can convert into vitamin A. Orange-colored fruits and vegetables contain plentiful amounts of carotene. Taking pure vitamin A concentrate daily can lead to severe disorders of the nervous system, bones and other tissues.

Vitamin B (vitamin B complex) contains a number of vitamins that are usually known by their chemical names such as: Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Folic Acid, and Vitamin B12

Vitamin C is abundant in many fruits and vegetables, especially in oranges, lemons and tomatoes. Lack of vitamin C causes scurvy. The body system cannot store vitamin C, therefore, foods contaning vitamin C should be taken daily.

Vitamin D plays a part in bone formation of calcium. Vitamin D concentrate should always be prescribed by a doctor and should be taken more than what the doctor prescribe.

Vitamin E is present in most foods and very abundant in vegetable oils, although little is known about the role of vitamin E in human diets.

Vitamin K i very abundant in green leafy vegetables and it is also known as formed by bacteria that is normally present in the intestine.
